Art D'Vine Prepares for Final Gallery Hop of 2011 with the Inclusion of Additional Galleries, Extended Hours and Free Prizes

November 28, 2011

The Arts and Entertainment District is in full holiday regalia, festooned with holiday wreaths, Christmas trees and Santa Claus in storefront windows. The art galleries have also been basking in holiday cheer whilst decking their halls in preparation for Holiday D’Vine, a gallery hop and wine tasting on State Street. Downtown Bristol’s five art galleries extend a warm invitation to all to ring in the holidays with them on December 2 with extended gallery hop hours of 6 pm to 9 pm.

As in the previous gallery hops, participants are invited to stroll through Downtown Bristol and sample fine wine varietals at Kil’n Time, Benjamin Walls Gallery, 606 State Street Gallery, One of a Kind Gallery and blowfish emporium. “Each gallery hop we host is unique,” comments Katherine Bowman, Associate Director of Believe in Bristol. “The galleries each try to offer something new to keep folks interested. There might be new pieces on display, live entertainment to enjoy, and in the case of our December hop, 2 new galleries.”

October marked the first month an additional gallery was on the walking tour. In an effort to bring the local college student art to the downtown landscape, a temporary gallery was made available. That same concept will be in play for the December hop as well. The One Night Stand Gallery, located at 618 State Street will feature art from the King College Photography Department. To further enhance the gallery hop, a 7th gallery will be on tour for the evening. Bridgeforth Design Studio, located at 29 6th Street, is new to Downtown Bristol and specializes in creating concept art, game art, product design, 3D modeling, book illustration, character design, cartooning, and custom painting.

For the December Art D’Vine, gallery owners would like to encourage each hopper to bring a canned or dry good with them to help support area food banks. “Many of us are so very fortunate to have all we need and then some,” says Bethany Wilson, owner of blowfish emporium. “Helping families in need is the right thing to do, especially during the holidays.
