BCMA's Bristol Sessions Weekend Marks Historic Event with Box Set Release & Mountian Stage!!

The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance celebrates the Bear Family Records' release of The Bristol Sessions: The Big Bang of Country Music 1927-28 Box Set with a full weekend of events that include a Box Set Release Party and the return of National Public Radio's Mountain Stage to Bristol March 12th-13th.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Dale Jett, John Carter Cash and Roni & Patsy Stoneman are just a few of the artists who will celebrate the historic event taking place in Downtown Bristol, TN/VA, the Birthplace of Country Music. The weekend's events and sales of the box set are also a fundraising opportunity for BCMA to help them reach their goal of opening Bristol's first Cultural Heritage Center. The facility will trace the history, cultural influences, and development of country music through a sequence of audio-visual experiences. There will also be space for live music performances, lecture and film series and other outreach activities.


Saturday, March 12th
3-4pm: Dr. Ted Olson & Richard Weiz at The Bristol Public Library (701 Goode Street, Bristol, VA)
East Tennessee State University's Dr. Ted Olson, author of the book accompanying the box set, and Richard Weiz of Bear Family Records discuss the compilation.

7:30pm: The Bristol Sessions Box Set CD Release Party (618 State Street, Bristol, TN)
Roni & Patsy Stoneman, Dale Jett & John Carter Cash will be on hand to celebrate the release of The Bristol Sessions Box Set. Pre-ordered box sets can be picked up at the event, box sets will also be sold.

Saturday, March 13th
3-5pm: Bristol Sessions Themed Discovery Series at The Bristol Public Library

7pm: Mountain Stage Live at The Paramount Center for the Arts (518 State Street, Bristol, TN)
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, & Dale Jett are slated to perform.

The Bristol Sessions: The Big Bang of Country Music 1927-1928 box set has not yet been released but can be reserved exclusively from The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance at a discounted cost of $150 per box set if you pre-order before March 12th. After the release the box sets will be sold for $180. The first 250 copies of the box are collector's items, numbered and include a letter of authenticity.

The box set includes five digitally remastered CDs of the 1927 & 1928 Bristol Sessions, a beautiful, hard bound book with photos, biographies, discographies, lyrics, label shots, and payment ledgers to Bristol Sessions artists. This is a must-have compilation for collectors and an important archive of our nation's music history.
