Bristol, TN Transit System Offers Extended Service

Bristol, Tennessee Transit is offering an extended service to riders, with transit available to the Sullivan County Health Department or the Department of Human Services from 9:00am to 3:00pm

Monday through Friday. As this service is not a part of the standard transit route, riders are asked to call 423-989-5582 to schedule a pick-up at least 24 hours in advance. After hours, riders may call 423-989-5586. The standard fare for each adult rider is 60 cents ($1.20 round trip), though a reduced fare of 30 cents is available to senior or disabled citizens, who may show their Medicare card for identification, during the non-peak hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm. Children under the age of 6 ride for free.

Services provided by the Sullivan County Health Department are available to people of all ages and economic backgrounds. Most fees are based on income, but some may be at no charge. Services include immunizations, newborn screenings, school health exams, communicable disease testing and treatment, family planning, and women’s health, among many others. The Bristol/Blountville office of the Department of Human Services provides information and assistance regarding programs such as SNAP (formerly known as food stamps), Families First, Child Care Certificates, and Medicaid/TennCare.
