New Sampler CD Project Launched at The Crooked Road!!!

~CALL TO ARTISTS~ New Sampler CD Project Launched at The Crooked Road!!!

The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail is planning to develop a series of Sampler CD recordings highlighting the great traditional music and musicians of the region. The Sampler CD will contain selected tracks from existing CD recordings of Crooked Road artists with liner notes on each artist and artist contact information so music lovers can obtain the full original recording from the artist. The purpose of this project is to introduce music lovers to Crooked Road artists they may not know about, and to encourage sales of the artist’s CDs.

Artists who would like tracks from their existing recording to be considered for inclusion on a Crooked Road Sampler CD will need to submit two copies of their CD and a completed submittal form to The Crooked Road by December 31, 2010. To be eligible, artists must meet the following Eligibility Criteria:

1) Submitted recordings should be authentic traditional music that fits with the musical heritage represented by The Crooked Road.

2) The submitted CD must be currently available for sale and orderable through the U.S. Postal Service, other delivery service, or on the Internet.

3) Artist must be living and currently performing.

4) Artist must be based in the Counties of Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Dickenson, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Lee, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe; or the Cities of Bristol, Galax, Norton and Radford.
