The Appalachian Pastel Society will display their artwork at the Bristol Public Library's Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery during the month of August

Artwork by the Appalachian Pastel Society (APS) will be featured in the Bristol Public Library’s Virgie R. Fleenor Gallery during the month of August. APS is centered in western North Carolina (Asheville area) and serves members from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. The organization works to promote understanding and appreciation of pastel painting throughout the Appalachian region. APS is a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) and APS member paintings have received national recognition.

Artists from East Tennessee and western North Carolina will showcase the vibrant, luminous qualities that make soft pastel paintings uniquely expressive and exciting. A reception will be held on Sunday, August 5th from 2-4pm to celebrate the opening of the show.

This display runsAugust 1st –August 31st at the Bristol Public Library in the Virgie R. Fleenor Art Gallery. The library is open Monday- Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday- Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m.-5 p.m. For questions about the Art Gallery or any other library programs, call 276.645.8780.
