Host Families needed for Bristol Pirates


Bristol Baseball is in need of host families! Offer a "home away from home" to the players, giving them a place to sleep and can even include those they host in family meals and other activities. Host Families can accommodate as many players as they wish, and it is sure to be an enjoyable experience for all involved!

Wrestle

Wrestle is an intimate, inspiring coming of age portrait of the wrestling team at a struggling high school in Huntsville, Alabama. As they fight towards the State Championship, wrestlers Jailen, Jamario, Teague, and Jaquan face injustices and challenges on and off the mat, grappling with obstacles that jeopardize their success, while their coach wades into the complexities of class and race in the South.

Screening is followed by a talkback with the Director of East TNPBS Community Outreach

FREE and open to the public.

The Diamonds

From East Tennessee, The Diamonds play a diverse mix of music, specializing in jazz standards. The group performs at various venues and events throughout the region, including weddings, parties, and restaurants. They have also volunteered at many nursing homes, assisted living homes, and charitable organizations in the area.

State St. Tattoo Fest 2019

The Bristol Tattoo Company is proud to present the Tri-Cities first tattoo convention in Bristol, Tennessee, May 24th to the 26th!

The State St. Tattoo Fest will feature over 70 local, regional, and national artists showcasing their tattoos and artwork. There will also be unique vendors including clothing and novelty items, a pin-up contest, live entertainment and a Wing War with local restaurants. Attendees will have the opportunity to get tattooed, meet some of their favorite artists, watch live shows, enter the tattoo contests, and much more.

The State St. Tattoo Fest is an event you don't want to miss! So mark your calendars, bring the family, and get tattooed!

Genealogy: Ready, Set, Research!

Going back to the homeland of your ancestors, whether that was Scotland, New England, or North Carolina? This could be the summer when you uncover invaluable records that make some of those hard-to-fit pieces tie into the branches of your family tree.

Our latest genealogy class will help you develop a strategy before tackling those brick walls that we all encounter with family research. Join us on May 24 at 2:00 to discover what you may be missing, and what you may be able to find!

Run for Phil 5k

Join us for the 11th Annual Run for Phil 5k. In memory of our wonderful friend and runner Phil Timp who lost his battle to ALS in 2013.

All proceeds Benefits the Emergency Mgmt Division of the Bristol VA Fire Dept to purchase supplies for its new Pet Shelter Support Trailer where animals will be housed in the event of an emergency evacuation situation.

Walkers, strollers & pets on leashes are welcome.

Packet pick up and registration will be at Cumberland Square Park starting at 6:15 am.

Kids Canvas Class

Join Julie on Saturday, May 25th from 12-2 for our Kids and Parents Canvas Class! For this class, Julie will be sharing with painters how to recreate an adorable tree painting. Painters have the choice of painting one of the two trees pictured. The class will incorporate all matters of tools including flowers, forks, Q-Tips, and buttons!

Cost for this class is $20 per painter.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate with their children.

Bristol Wing War

The Inaugural Bristol Wing War is the most entertaining and exciting way to discover the best restaurants and chefs in Bristol. Our national event production company pits restaurant vs restaurant in a head to head competition and you get to be the judge!

On May 25, restaurants will prepare spicy traditional wings and specialty wings of a variety of flavors and serve them up piping hot with a side of live music and ice cold beer right in downtown Bristol on Piedmont Avenue.

Creative & Crafty: Succulents & Cacti Canvas Class

This month, we're painting succulents and cacti as part of our canvas class on Saturday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m. Interested participants will receive basic instruction on how to create the canvas and be free to customize the painting as desired. The class will cost $5 per person, but it will cover all supplies needed.

Bristol Dance Academy's "Please Don't Stop the Music!"

Bristol Dance Academy presents a student showcase of award-winning performances in competitive and recreational dance — one night only! Students ranging in age from three to 18, perform 35 dance and tumbling routines across all genres, including lyrical, hip hop, jazz, ballet, clogging, acrobatic and contemporary. In 2019, Bristol Dance Academy has already claimed National Industry Dance Awards (IDA) in clogging, hip hop, contemporary, and lyrical dance.
