In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, we invite you to a special conversation featuring Tina McDaniel and William Isom II. Discover the rich and often overlooked African-American history of Bristol, Virginia, through projects, oral histories, and more!
Expect engaging discussion on local history; insights into community projects and storytelling; and hidden gems that highlight the resilience and cultural impact of Bristol’s African-American community.
Tina D. McDaniel is a retired corporate professional dedicated to community service and visibility of Bristol’s neglected history. Tina leads impactful projects, including the Bristol Community Remembrance Project.
William Isom II is the Director of Black in Appalachia, focusing on research, documentary production, and community engagement to preserve African-
American history in the region.
