State Street Farmer's Market 25th Anniversary “Christmas in July” Extravaganza

Two of our favorite things – Christmas and garden-fresh produce – will come together this Saturday as the State Street Farmer's Market celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a “Christmas in July” extravaganza. Please wear a tacky Christmas sweater (or Christmas-themed attire appropriate for the sweltering heat of recent weeks), plan to purchase your one-of-a-kind State Street Farmer’s Market ornament to commemorate this grand occasion, and look for Christmas-themed items from select vendors. Here's a brief history lesson: When City leaders first conceived the idea of a farmer’s market, they added it to a long wish list of ideas designed to revitalize downtown that also included a new library, restoration of the Bristol Train Station, a country music museum, and new retail opportunities. Now just look at our downtown! A landscape architect helped transform what had been a parking lot into a community gathering spot and the market officially opened in May 2000. Over the years, the market has evolved with the times and is now open each Saturday morning, May through October, and Wednesday afternoons, July through September. Shoppers can purchase such things as fresh produce that changes with the growing season, locally produced meats, honey, jellies, baked goods, and crafts. Hats off to the City leaders who envisioned this market 25 years ago and to our incredible vendors who provide the best our region has to offer! A special shout out to Courtney Arnett, who now oversees the market and is always looking for ways to make it even better. You've got to meet this girl!
