Annual Indie Bookstore event celebrated on April 25, 2026
Dragonfly Book Bar is happy to announce their participation in the 13th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day!
Dragonfly Book Bar will have 10 exclusive items for sale and as giveaways, from specialized tote bags and books to bookmarks and stickers. Blind Dates with a Book and Kids’ Mystery Books will be on sale, and we will have a variety of freebies for lucky customers throughout the day. In partnership with Libro.FM, there will be one Golden Ticket hidden in the store, and whoever finds it will win 12 free audiobooks!
This year, Dragonfly Book Bar will also celebrate Independent Bookstore Day with a Prolific Author Sale, a chance to get copies of your favorite James Patterson, Nora Roberts, J.D. Robb, Lee Child, and Sue Grafton books for half price! Customers who spend over $50 will be entered into a raffle to win a Dragonfly Book Bar tote filled with goodies!
In the evening from 5:00p.m. to 7:30p.m., we are hosting Rise Up Open Mic, put on by the Appalachian Peace Education Center and Take Action SWVA. This will be an evening of protest songs, resistance poetry, spoken word, and community solidarity, part of a regional series in memory of Steve Fisher who dedicated his life to peace and justice here in Appalachia. This event is open to the public, and there's no fee to attend or perform. “We are really excited to participate in Independent Book Store day for the first time! We have been open a little over eight months, and we are thrilled that our community has been so welcoming and supportive of our store. This event is a great time to put indie bookstores back in the center of the story and to say thank you to our loyal and supportive customers.” ~ Rene Rodgers, Co-owner, Dragonfly Book Bar.
Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 1,600 stores participating across the country. Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
