Bristol, TN/VA (December 16, 2025) — Believe in Bristol, the nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing downtown Bristol, proudly announces the addition of Charlene Baker as its new Associate Director.
Baker brings more than a decade of experience working in downtown Bristol and is well known to many local businesses, organizations, and community members. Her deep relationships, knowledge of the district, and commitment to community-building made her a natural fit for this role.
As Associate Director, Baker will support Believe in Bristol’s mission-driven work through day-to-day operations, event coordination, business support, and committee and partner collaboration across the twin cities’ historic downtown.
“Charlene already feels like part of the family,” said Maggie Elliott, Executive Director of Believe in Bristol. “Her familiarity with our merchants, her genuine care for people, and her enthusiasm for downtown Bristol’s future will be a tremendous asset to our team. We are thrilled to have her step into this role as we continue to grow our programs and impact.”
In her new position, Baker will assist with planning and executing downtown events, coordinating with stakeholders and volunteers, supporting communications and outreach, and helping advance ongoing economic vitality and placemaking efforts in the district.
“I am honored to join the Believe in Bristol team in an official capacity,” said Baker. “As a Bristol native, serving my hometown has been an important part of my life for many years, both as a professional and as a volunteer. Believe in Bristol has played a major role in revitalizing downtown and creating a place people are proud of—one that residents and visitors alike are excited to experience. I’m thrilled to be part of an organization that supports the businesses, events, and collaborations that keep our downtown vibrant and thriving.”
Baker’s hiring marks an important step in Believe in Bristol’s continued investment in staffing capacity to better serve downtown businesses, property owners, residents, visitors, and partners on both sides of State Street.
